2010 Editors' Choice Award - BEST VARIETY SHOW!

HUGHES BROTHERS

WINS "BEST VARIETY SHOW"

FANS' CHOICE AWARD

November 9, 2010, 8:00 PM

BransonCritic.com representative Molly Donohue was invited by Jason Hughes to come up and join him and his four brothers on stage during intermission. He handed the mic to her and she said: "Wow! What a way to spend an evening! With the talented Hughes Brothers and their families! Let’s give them another ‘round of applause."

.
She continued: "We’re here tonight to honor you guys and your families. You’ve graced Branson with your presence, your talent, Jason’s ego…your varied commitments to our community, and your commitment to providing fans – tourists and locals alike – with superior entertainment. Over the years, we’ve gotten the pleasure of watching your family grow…and grow…and grow…and blossom into the multi-talented entertainers they are today.

It takes hard work to manage a theater, provide quality customer service to guests and receptives, channel all the charm and good looks Jason possesses…and to produce a top-rated show – two shows really (your regular season and your Christmas season) along with raising your families!"

Molly finished up by saying: "We’re so proud of you. You’ve kept the spirit of what Branson is all about alive and well in the hearts of your fans, your friends, and your families and tonight we want to recognize those efforts by awarding you the 2010 BransonCritic.com Editors’ Choice Award for Best Variety Show! Congratulations Hughes!"

Wow, what a show. I saw it last year and it has changed drastically, for the better. Start to finish was fast paced and full of fun and fabulous music.

The first half had a lot of their old favorites, a bit or country and bit of oldies and a little rock and roll. Then came the show tunes and action. The brothers have the best harmony in town and it shows throughout the show.

The kids are not just a bunch of kids running around on stage, they are all talented in their own right. The drummer, Jacob, is outstanding. The three older kids make the violins sing like no one in town... better than Shoji for sure.

The costumes that go with each and every song are perfect. Aaron sang a solo that made me want to stand and cheer. The olio were all of the kids are on stage trying to save the "damsel in distress" is brilliant.

"Sit Down You're Rocking the Boat" and the number where they sit and do rhythm and hand jive on themselves, each other and their tambourine hats made me want to see it again and again!!

We had the opportunity to take our family reunion group to the Hughes Brother's Show last Friday, over 20 people attended, ranging in ages from 2 to 79.

From the first call to inquire about tickets to following the show the people we dealt with were fantastic. Our group sat in center aisle in row 7 and 8. They even acknowledged our family at the beginning of the show.

The theater was very comfortable and a great way to escape the hot temperatures outside. The show was a great value that kept our group engaged for over two hours.

I would recommend the Hughes Brothers to all groups. They are such a talented family

The 5 brothers are not only fine vocalists but bring along wives and children.

The show includes colorful lights, costumes and instrumental background. The kids carry their own weight with singing in parts, dancing and violin solos. Even the small children take part in singing and dancing. It is truly a whole family participation show with family members doing the lights, sound and management.

Refreshing to see family members working together and putting on an EXCELLENT show!

It was a GREAT show.

My husband & I thoroughly enjoyed it. We would go to see it again if we go to Branson. The brothers were so personable & talked with us at length after the show.

It was great to see so large a family entertaining us.

This is the second time we have had the pleasure of being at the Hughes Brothers show and every minute was thoroughly enjoyable.

They connect well with the audience, the music is very upbeat and fun with lots of variety and an added element is to watch them perform with their wives and children - they are truly a tremendously gifted family.

I will go back to see their show every time I'm in Branson!!

Looking for a show that gets you into the "Spirit of Christmas?" The Hughes Brothers' Christmas show provides everything one might be looking for to brighten the Holiday Season. With a cast of family members that are not only gifted and dedicated to a great production, but are genuinely having fun while doing what they love to do best...entertain. It truly is the biggest "family show" of the world!

The love and closeness of the Hughes Brothers extends to the audience as they draw you in and make you feel "part of the family." Sharing a bit of their family "roots" from their "Swedish" mother to their adopted "Russian" siblings.

Marty, Jason, Adam, Andy and Ryan have amazing harmony but that is just the beginning. They each have very talented wives that can sing and dance like Angels as well. One can only wonder what it takes to but on a production of this magnitude with over 2 dozen children between them, each casted in specific roles. We couldn't help but feel the tug on our hearts with choice musical numbers that have everything that Christmas represents from the history of Santa Claus to the Christ child. Their show actually stays true to the "TRUE" meaning of Christmas as they bring hope and joy to all who attend their shows. We left Branson feeling ready to celebrate Christmas and it was only November!

We are looking forward to bringing many more family members to see this wonderful show, both this year and the years to come...

The Hughes Brothers were great. It's a very family oriented show for everyone of every age to got and see!!

The children are very talented in voice, playing instruments, and singing, just everything. The Hughes Brothers themselves were very entertaining, from the opening jokester to the solemn salute to our veterans of war. Their wives were also very good at dancing and singing!!!

This was my first trip to Branson, and to a show of this quality and perfection. I'm from a small town in Minnesota and we don't get to see this kind of entertainment unless we go out of town to see a show of this type. I have two grandsons and I would be delighted to have them experience this show. I know we will be back to Branson in the next 2 years, and I would love to go see the show again!! I would especially like to see the Christmas show!!!

I would recommend this show to everyone and anyone who was going to Branson to see this show, even if they are there for the 12th time!!! I think this family shows the rest of us how talented a family can be and to bring more children into their family was really terrific!!!! I applaud the Mothers of these children for home schooling them!!! I think they will all continue to be a part of the Hughes Brothers and their show!!! Keep up the wonderful entertainment!!!

The young man who was the jokester was good at the beginning and during the show as well, he seemed like a mischievous guy!!!!

In December I'm going to be 80 years old. I started to see live performances at the age of 12 in Hartford (CT) at the State Theater. Some of the performers were Tommy Dorsey, Benny Goodman, Frank Sinatra, Peggy Lee, Blackstone and about 200 others.
I've been to Vegas about 30 times, taken many cruises and have seen so many stars it's hard to describe. I've seen Dean Martin, Jimmy Durante, Tom Jones, Red Skeleton, Sammy Davis, Andy Williams and on and on... With all this experience I feel I know quality performances.

When my wife and I purchases tickets to the HUGHES BROTHERS' show we really didn't know what to expect.

We were delighted with the quality of the singing, dancing and the performances of all the brothers and their families.

What impressed us was not only the excellent quality of the performances, but, also, the closeness of the family. It's sure nice to see a family as large as theirs working, playing and enjoying each other. ....the big bonus is that the audience enjoyed it immensely. Keep up the fine program.

We have seen the Hughes Brothers for many years in a row (14?). Their show is absolutely fantastic! The humor, the songs, the harmony, the dancing, the emotional roller coaster, the family atmosphere, their wives and children - every single thing is fun and wonderful. We have seen dozens of shows in Branson over the years, but the Hughes Brothers consistently is our favorite!

Each time we see the Hughes Brothers there are new songs and new costumes. Each time we come back they treat each audience like they are the best they have ever seen and they NEVER appear to be at work - they always seem to enjoy what they do and how they impact their guests. From receptionist to star, the entire group at the Hughes Brothers theater are ALWAYS top notch. We love them all!

WOW, what an AWESOME show. They are fabulous.

We are not a "country" type family and neither is this show. Even my 9 year old son was rocking his head. When we told him there were NO instruments, he said, "Yes there are, can't you hear the base?" To which I responded, "Do you see that guy with the mic? Watch his lips, he's the base!" His jaw just dropped. The drum sounds were amazing too. Their solo's were fabulous and then we had a song from "today" for the kids to totally enjoy.

I have absolutely NOTHING bad to say...except it was toooooo short because we wanted to hear more!

My family and I recently moved here from the Boston area. As many will know Boston is an area of entertainment sophistication. From its historic Boston Opera House to its many other venues there is quality entertainment to be enjoyed. Upon moving to Branson we looked forward to the many entertainment styles we saw advertised and made a vow to go to at least one show a month. Forewarned by others that perhaps the quality of the entertainment in Branson wasn’t up to par as compared to Boston or Broadway in NY we set upon our adventure with anticipation that we would indeed see great entertainment.

We have enjoyed many shows over the last several months here in Branson but were absolutely stunned by the quality, entertainment style, wholesomeness and energy we found in the Hughes Brothers Show! Branson in our opinion has hit the map of Boston and Broadway superiority in many of its shows but has hit a grand slam homerun with the Hughes Brothers show!

From its opening salvo to its grand finale it grabs your heart strings, lifts your spirit and energizes you with its vocal harmony and incredible talent of the brothers and their amazing family of entertainers.

From the stage lighting to the comedy, Broadway musicals, original award winning songs, patriotic selections, love songs, gospel, dance numbers and its variety of song melodies and then to the performing talent of the wives and children it was amazing to watch. The band was exceptional and complimented the voices and various arrangements to a “T”. We especially loved the wedding score with, if my count is right, 11 songs arraigned together in a moving melody.

The closing finale with all the wives and daughters dressed in flowing white gowns and the men and sons in black suits was spectacular!

My wife and I without hesitation recommend the Hughes Brothers Show first and foremost. It is an inspiration to see!

The Hughes Brothers is a show that we will not miss when in Branson. We saw a wonderful mix of humor, gospel, patriotic, rock & roll, Broadway music. Instrumentals include Classic Spanish Guitar, Violins playing classical and good old stomp in' tunes. Dancing including the brothers, their wives, and many children was very well choreographed, and executed beautifully. These children are so talented that this show could be viewed for decades. Families and teens alike will love the show. The band is second to none in Branson, and were a perfect match for the vocal, instrumental, and dancing portions of the show.

There were people attending that had been at the Hughes Brothers show every year since they moved into their own theater.
