Description:

Family entertainment and fun are an important part of the Branson tradition.  The Baldknobbers Jamboree, now celebrating their golden anniversary, started that tradition, in 1959 when the four Mabe brothers began entertaining visitors coming to Branson.  The family legacy continues to wow audiences with a variety of country music and hilarious comedy.  The highly successful Baldknobbers Jamboree, owned by The Mabe Family, is the longest continuously running show in Branson, Missouri.

Today’s Baldknobbers Show is a musical powerhouse featuring a talented cast of dynamic singers, musicians, comedians and entertainers as they perform your favorite country classics, hot new country hits, toe tappin’ gospel and lots side-spitting comedy.

The Mabe brothers adopted the name of an Old Ozarks vigilante group that held their meetings on a treeless hilltop or “bald knob”.  So when they started Branson's first show, it was just natural to take a regional name.

With 50 years of experience in the Branson tourism industry, the Baldknobbers is the ticket for your next trip to Branson.  Guests are entertained from the moment they step foot in to the theater.   The Baldknobbers Jamboree is two hours of power packed music and comedy guaranteed to entertain all ages that established the benchmark for what Branson is today, the “Live Entertainment Capital of the World!”

Known as the “Show That started It All” in Branson, Missouri where celebrating American entertainment is a family tradition.  Show times are 8:00 P.M. Monday ~ Saturday. Comedy pre-show starts at 7:15pm.

There is just something special about the vocal harmonies of family. When Patty and Brandon sing duets, their voices blend phenomenally. Denton definitely has his own great style, but for anyone who has followed the show, you can't miss that he is Dennis' son. Facial expressions and the famous Dennis growl is still on that stage. Brandon is doing such a fine job as lead singer, and the clip showing him with his 4 kids under three is always a hit. I enjoy seeing Patti sing, and her love song to Droopy Jr this year is so funny. Joy Bilyeu has the voice of an angel, no one does it like her. Brent Mabe has the band in tip top style, and he is so fun to watch getting with the bass guitar. Penny's voice is flawless, as is Ed's The comedy of Droop, Stub, and Hargis leaves you rolling in your seat. I am so glad they revived Josephus and Bohunkas and the toilet bowl scene...two of my all time favorites. I start laughing just knowing what is coming. This show has entertained Branson for 50 years, and their crowds are great even in a down recession time. This show should definitely be show of the year on this, its 50th anniversary. They are definitely a crowd pleaser, and you leave feeling your hard earned money was well spent. Their Christianity also shines on stage and in their lives. Vote them BEST SHOW IN BRANSON

Baldknobber’s show still good but needs an update.

My wife and I make it to Branson about once every two years. We have seen the Baldknobber’s show several times. While the show is always good, it needs a major update. On this 2006 trip, we found ourselves watching some of the same comedy routines and jokes that we saw on our 2004 trip. Likewise, the theater could use a face-lift. The seats are getting broken down and showing their age. The one I sat in felt like it went all the way to the floor.

The show has excellent singers and musicians but they are to often relegated to doing backup music for comedy antics and the video screens. For example: I noted what a terrific job the guys were doing on some old western classics. The audience however was so fixed on the comedy routine that was playing on the video screen that they totally missed the quality of their performance.

I like a lot of good comedy and/or comedians in a show but it seemed that Baldknobber’s has one wandering through every other musical number. Having a comedian repeatedly moving among the singers becomes more distracting than it is funny. After a while it just seems disrespectful to these talented performers.

One thing in the show schedule was rather strange. The show starts at 8:00 with a 7:15 pre-show. The pre-show, a comedy routine, only lasted about 15 minutes. This still left you setting there for 30 minutes of nothing before the actual show started. They should at least move the pre-show to 7:30.

If you have never seen the Baldknobber’s show before, then by all means go see it. If you have seen it before, then go see the Presley’s show instead. They have a better show this year.

Even though my husband and I have visited Branson several times, we had never gone to see the Baldknobbers. However, we went this year. And the show was excellent!! The songs were great! The girls very pretty--and talented!

All the guys were super, too!

The gospel part was really good, as well as the "country favorites". The salute to the veterans was inspiring and made my heart swell with pride. And the comedians--well, they were just plain hilarious!

I suggest you only go see the show if you want a good belly laugh along the way. (And they even "clean up" real nice, in the end.) We would recommend this show to anyone-who loves music and laughing. You get plenty of both and top rate! The seats are comfortable too--you don't feel "scrunched up". We are coming back next year, and Baldknobbers are on the top of our show list! You can bet on that!!

We went to see the Baldknobbers Jamboree July 7, 2004. It was incredible. We had first row seats. The comedy was hilarious. Bob Leftridge is a great straight man to Stubbs and Droopy Drawers, Jr. They do a lot of hillbilly humor everyone can relate to, whether young or old.

A lot of the show is classic country. Gene Dove does a Merle Haggard medley and ‘Long Black Train’. This was well received by the audience. Dennis Mabe (second generation Baldknobber) does a tribute to Waylon and Johnny; and also a gospel song. Carolyn Hill, who is a former Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader, sang ‘Stand By Your Man’. Cassandra Bray sang ‘I'm Not Lisa’ and Penny Cardin sang ‘I Never Promised You a Rose Garden’. Bob Leftridge does a wonderful medley of several older country artists. Bob can emulate anyone. What a talent! Droop and Stubb even come out dressed like some country ladies. The show has something for everyone; a lot of comedy. Country Music, Gospel, Blue grass, and the best Patriotic tribute I have ever heard.

The Baldknobbers finish the show with a tribute to our veterans. They sing a portion of each Branch of the military theme song. Veterans are asked to stand up when their branch is recognized and be honored. They end the medley with ‘God Bless America’. Everyone is on his or her feet, clapping and shouting. It gives you chills and makes you feel proud to be an American.

I have seen several Branson shows and Baldknobbers remains our favorite after many years. You wont meet any nicer entertainers. They make every person feel special. They take numerous photos during intermission and always seem glad to do so. The staff is the friendliest. I am so proud of The Baldknobbers. They never fail to give honor to God and our Country.

We just came back from our first visit to Branson. We really enjoyed it! The country is beautiful and the people are very friendly. We saw a lot of shows and most were first-rate. We enjoyed the two comedians on the Baldknobbers, they were really funny and portrayed their parts very well.

But the part we suffered with was the LOUD music. Why do they have to turn up the volume so high? I think someone should test the volume, I'm sure you are actually damaging the hearing of your audiences. You keep that up and you'll have lawsuits for hearing damage. It would actually sound better if the volume wasn't so loud and certainly would be much more enjoyable.
