Who says they roll up the sidewalk at 10 p.m.?

At 11 o’clock on Friday nights THE place to be is the Grand Country Music Hall!  Kick off your weekend by taking part in the live, one hour radio show, “Branson Country USA.”  Maybe I should say “lively” radio show.  This is a foot-stompin, (or toe-tapping for us older folks), fine singing, and keep ya’ laughing, heck of a show!  They have been known to bring over 200 cloggers on the stage and, by golly, you can be one of them.  Say you don’t know how to clog?  No problem.  There is a special way of accomplishing this feat (feet-ha), but you have to be there to learn the trick.  It’s a lot of fun and you might just get a prize, too.

As for the great singing; weekly regulars New South Quartet and Jackie Brown along with the Grand Band are among the best (if not THE best) entertainment in town.  From Grand Country’s, GRAND JUBILEE SHOW, New South opens the show with a country music favorite and also treats us to a gospel song before the hour is over.  Follow that up with the beautiful and spirited vocalist, Jackie Brown, also from the GRAND JUBILEE SHOW, and that should be enough.  But, no, there’s even more in this one hour.

Mike Patrick and Jamie Haage aka Jim Dandy, host the show and do an amazing job of controlling the commercial break time.  During this time there can be some side-splitting and way out, off the wall conversations between the audience and those on stage.  You just never know what’s going to happen next.

And also, you never know who’s going to be in the audience.  Mickey Gilley, Doug Gabriel, Bob Nelson, Clay Cooper, Jimmy Ponder (Branson Brothers) have been there when we attended.

The entertainers chosen for the show are always excellent.  We were there last week for “Founder’s Night.”  THE PLUMMER FAMILY, (Branson’s 3rd theater 1972-1990), and THE FOGGY RIVER BOYS (Branson’s 4th show 1973-1993) were the guests.  What a night!!  I can sum up in one word the talent we witnessed on that stage; indescribable.   The energy in the theater was carried over after the show to the parking lot.  Several audience members enjoyed chatting about the powerful harmonies and wonderful memories.
